William fell ill and died after on-duty exposure to COVID-19. William was the epitome of a public servant. He was a jack of all trades in the public service world and served in various town positions such as commissioner, mayor, fire and EMS worker. He spent 43 years serving his community through fire/EMS and over 20 years in town government. He was often described as a dedicated and giving man who had a love for Oak City and its citizens. His impression will forever be made on Oak City and his service remembered.
