After exposure to EMS via the Navy, he served in EMS for 31 years, the last 19 years of which were with the San Diego Fire Department. His impact as a first responder is unforgettable, but it was his boundless compassion that truly set him apart. He was a generous, humble man who had an infectious smile and quick wit that left everyone around him in stitches. He enjoyed boating, camping, and spending time with his wife and his two daughters. He died as a result of COVID-19 only days before retiring from a lifetime of service.
