Joseph was described as “the same fellow every day, good or bad…he was always professional” and “dependable.” He started his career in the fire service in 1982 as a volunteer firefighter and EMT and later as a paid firefighter in 1993 with the Whitesburg FD. He was married to Lia and had a son, Mathew. When not working he enjoyed horseback riding, hunting and maintaining a small farm.
