John had a strong love for the beach and the outdoors. He was athletic, playing volleyball as well as softball in the NOLA softball league. He loved his family, and had a special connection with his great niece, McKinley Winfield. His love for helping people was not only seen with his working as an EMT, but also his volunteering as fire fighter at Maben Fire Department, which allowed him to further serve his community.
