Hilda, born Puerto Rico, moved to New York as a child. After graduation she worked as a dental assistant, and an administrative aide. Hilda embodied public service, joining FDNY EMS as an EMT, serving for 26 years where she met the love of her life John, a NYPD officer, whom she married. Both spent countless hours helping in the post 9-11 effort ultimately leading to her battle with WTC Related Cancer. Becoming a mother was Hilda’s most humbling, wonderous, and rewarding experience. She often told her son Andy, “you can’t put a price tag on peace of mind. Many have said that Hilda was “the life of the party”, a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, colleague, and friend. She was known by all as a warm and caring person, always going out of her way to help anyone in need.
